Saudi Arabia VMUG- 12 December 2017

On Thursday 12th December 2017 VMware Saudi Arabi arranged VMUG meeting in VMware office in Riyadh and it was an amazing event!

There were more than 50 registered attendants and I am sure there was well over 50 actually attended.

After the VMUG Into by VMUG team, the first session given by Rami Nasser (VMware System Engineer) cover “What is New in VMware vSphere 6.5” & “How to upgrade to vSphere 6.5” , Rami cover the most important features of vSphere 6.5 which is

    

  • Enhanced vCenter Install, Upgrade, Patch
  • Sphere Update Manager for vCenter Server Appliance
  • Enhanced Auto Deploy
  • Improvements in Host Profiles
  • VMware Tools Life cycle Management
  • vSphere Automation API
  • Enhancements to Storage I/O Control:
  • VMDK Encryption Manageability
  • Secure Boot Support for ESXi Host and Guest VM
  • Enhanced vCenter Events, Alarms and vSphere Logging
  • Encrypted vMotion
  • New Role – No Cryptography Administrator

Also he went through VSAN in high level and touched the new features in VSAN 6.6.1 the future of VSAN and HCI

The second session presented by Rayan Alfraiji (NSX Senior Engineer) which cover the remaining topics of “intro to SDN and NSX”.

Rayan started as  introduction to SDN , the idea behind the SDN and how it get developed to NSX and then NSX-T , he also touch the bawl point in high level

  • NSX Network and Security capability
  • NSX use cases
  • NSX partner echo systems
  • Introduction of NSX-T
  • the future of NSX-T

Finally it was very nice gathering and very nice meeting in VMware  and about VMware latest news and technologies. still the VMware users and engineers in Saudi need more attention from vmware and it would by very nice to do such meetings and events at least every 2-3 months ,even i would be happy to join VMUG group in educating people and shearing my knowledge with vmware fans in Saudi
